1:1 Executive Coaching for Leaders in Transition | Josianne Robb

1:1 Coaching with Josianne Robb

1:1 coaching for the transition you cannot think through alone

A private coaching partnership for accomplished professionals navigating a crossroads: personal, professional, or both.

Something has shifted. You may be facing a significant decision, questioning a direction that once made sense, or recognising that the life and career you have built no longer fully reflect who you are becoming.

You may not need more advice. You may need somewhere to think honestly, examine the assumptions shaping your choices, and see possibilities that are difficult to access alone.

The work is bespoke. We follow the shape of your real situation, not a standard curriculum.

Who this is for

This may be for you if…

You are considering leaving, changing or substantially reshaping your career.
You have achieved much of what you once wanted, but the next obvious step no longer appeals.
A change in your personal life has altered what you want from your work and future.
You are caught between several plausible choices and afraid of making the wrong one.
You understand your situation intellectually but have not been able to turn insight into movement.
You want to make a deliberate choice rather than react from fear, obligation or other people's expectations.

You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal. Clarifying the real question is often part of the work.

How the work is structured

Bespoke rather than curriculum-led

There is no standard sequence you have to follow.

We begin with the situation, decision or pattern that matters most to you. From there, I draw on the Applied Adaptability Method, assessment insights and relevant tools as the work develops.

Some conversations may focus on an immediate decision. Others may lead us into identity, ambition, relationships, leadership, inherited expectations or the wider design of your life.

Private coaching follows the person and situation in front of me.

What is included

What the engagement includes

Ten private coaching sessions

Ten 60-minute sessions across approximately six months. Sessions are generally held fortnightly at the beginning, allowing us to build momentum, and may become more spaced as the work develops.

Adaptability Quotient assessment

The AQ assessment, delivered through AQAI, provides a structured view of how you currently respond to uncertainty and change, including the strengths you can draw on and the dimensions that may be restricting movement. Josianne is qualified to administer and interpret the assessment. The debrief is included in your first session.

A curated toolkit

Josianne draws selectively from behavioural science, neuroscience, coaching psychology, adaptability research and frameworks developed through her own practice. The value does not lie in collecting frameworks. It lies in using the right tool at the right moment, to help you see, decide or act in a way that conversation alone cannot.

Confidential senior-level thinking space

Somewhere to think honestly without needing to manage the reactions, interests or expectations of colleagues, family or other stakeholders. Sessions are confidential within the terms of the coaching agreement and are not recorded or transcribed.

The methodology

A method beneath the work, not a rigid formula

My 1:1 coaching draws on the Applied Adaptability Method: examining what has shaped your present choices, reconnecting with what matters now and experimenting with a more consciously chosen direction.

The methodology gives the work depth and coherence, but it is not imposed as a fixed process. We draw on the parts that are most relevant to your situation.

The working relationship

What you can expect from me

I will listen carefully, but I will not simply agree with you.

I will challenge the assumptions beneath your thinking, help you notice what you may be avoiding, and bring a wider systems perspective to decisions that have begun to feel narrow or binary.

At times, I will slow you down. At others, I will encourage you to stop thinking and test something in the real world.

The purpose is not for me to make decisions on your behalf. It is to help you see clearly enough to make choices you can genuinely own.

About Josianne

Experience from both sides of transition

I bring two forms of experience to this work.

The first is professional: thirty years in financial services across Europe and Asia, including an APAC regional C-suite role, followed by more than 1,600 hours of professional coaching with clients across multiple countries.

The second is personal. In my early fifties, I moved through the end of a long corporate career, divorce, an empty nest, and the recognition that the life I had built no longer fully reflected who I was becoming.

I understand both the external complexity of senior professional life and the quieter internal work of choosing a different direction. Today, I have built a life that feels recognisably mine. That is the kind of self-authored direction I want my clients to find for themselves.

Is this the right fit

Is this the right fit for you?

This work is likely to suit you if you are willing to:

  • Question assumptions that have previously felt fixed
  • Tolerate a period of not immediately knowing
  • Examine your own contribution to the situation
  • Experiment rather than wait for complete certainty
  • Translate reflection into action

It may not suit you if you are looking for:

  • Someone to prescribe the correct decision
  • Reassurance without challenge
  • A quick solution that avoids deeper examination
  • Insight without responsibility for what follows

Not deciding is also a decision.

Choosing not to act may be entirely valid. But it is worth recognising that continued postponement is also shaping your future. The question is not whether you should make a dramatic change. It is whether you are willing to look honestly at what the current direction is costing you, and decide deliberately what comes next.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How is 1:1 coaching different from The Fourth Side?

1:1 coaching is bespoke and follows your individual situation. The Fourth Side is a structured six-month developmental programme with a defined curriculum, a small peer pod and private coaching support.

Is this executive coaching or life coaching?

It may involve either or both. Professional decisions do not occur separately from identity, relationships, values and the wider design of a person's life. The work follows the real question rather than forcing it into one category.

Do I need to know exactly what I want from coaching?

No. Many clients arrive knowing that something needs to change but unable to define the real question. Clarifying that question is often part of the work.

Are sessions online or in person?

Sessions are normally held by secure video call, allowing Josianne to work with clients internationally.

Is everything confidential?

Yes, within the legal, ethical and professional limits described in the coaching agreement. Sessions are not recorded or transcribed.

How long does the engagement last?

Ten sessions generally take place across approximately six months. The rhythm may be adjusted as the work develops.

What happens before I decide?

The process begins with a conversation to explore what is bringing you to coaching, what you hope may change, and whether working together feels appropriate. Neither party is obliged to proceed.

You do not need to have the answer before we speak

You may know exactly what you want to work on. Or you may only know that the current direction no longer feels right. Either is enough for an initial conversation.
